Here's where you apply for characters. This is more of a way of keeping me, the mod, informed of what you're doing, rather than a pass / fail system. I may make corrections or ask questions but if you have an invite you're basically fine. Just be honest about what your character can do, and we're good.

ELEVATOR PITCH: I don't need a full history of every moment in their life. Just give me a general rundown of what kind of tropes are present in your character's setting. What genre are they from? What does 'everyday life' mean to them? Include some sense of their motivations and flaws. 600 words max.
VAMPIRE ABILITIES: Please choose three Vampire Abilities your character will have upon entry.

AVOIDED TOPICS: Feel free to put N/a if needed, but this is just to get a good sense of subjects people might not wanna deal with, even though this is a horror section. This doesn't guarantee the subject won't show up, but it will ensure it's cordoned off and not mandatory.

CHARACTER NAME: Amberley Vail
AGE: looks 20-something, but is definitely over 100 (she has no canon age afaik)
FANDOM: Warhammer 40,000
CANON POINT: post-Cain's Last Stand (placing her in the middle of the much-retconned 13th Black Crusade...which is basically irrelevant because her characterization is constant)

ELEVATOR PITCH: Amberley Vail is a mass murderer, but she's delightful to know socially.

Though she presents herself as a cheerful and easygoing young woman, in actuality she's an Inquisitor, an agent of the fascist, theocratic Imperium of Man, the hidebound and tottering power that rules most of the galaxy in the year 40,000-something. Inquisitors are considered to speak for the God-Emperor Himself, and since He doesn't get out much to see what His servants are up to—what with being basically a psychic skeleton on life support at this point—an Inquisitor's authority is functionally limitless. Many don't hesitate to use it.

Amberley favors a lighter touch. She'll cut as wide a swath of destruction as she has to, but she prefers undercover investigations, claiming that subtlety before springing a trap denies enemies of the Imperium a chance to go to ground. While this is true as far as it goes, and she has a strong record of success with her tactics, she also delights in the various personas she assumes far more than can be explained by mere professional satisfaction. Among others, she's been a sultry torch singer, a lowly Imperial Guard (Army) corporal, and a flaky but wealthy noblewoman. There's nothing wrong with enjoying herself a little. Inquisition life is dangerous, after all, and her luck will run out one of these days.

To facilitate her various ruses and encourage people to underestimate her, Amberley takes advantage of the medical technology of the far future to keep her apparent age in the 20s. Even after she reveals her identity, she remains upbeat and friendly, seeming either not to notice or not to care about the high stakes of her job. Her occasional excursions into seriousness thus stand out far more than they would from someone who fits the popular image of grim and zealous Inquisitors. Her only divergence from this pattern is when she's communicating with her peers, where she's direct and businesslike but retains a dry sense of humor.

Who is the real Amberley Vail? She herself might not even know anymore. By the time a candidate becomes a full-fledged Inquisitor, they're all but guaranteed to have as much on their conscience as the average war criminal, and that's really just the start of their career. She knows she's doing the God-Emperor's will, but even the most pious Inquisitor has to find a way to grapple with the enormity of their actions. Amberley's cheerful unconcern might be unorthodox, but it keeps her psyche intact. Friends, colleagues, and lovers come and go, but the danger threatening humanity never lessens. The only thing that truly matters is doing her duty to the Imperium and its Emperor until it kills her.
