The major inspiration for this game is, unsurprisingly, vampire novels and Bloodborne. My favorites always had a dark gothic flair. I'm planning to focus on the themes of losing your humanity, having to make hard choices about killing, and living in a world that strives to seem thriving, but might actually be dying and crumbling. Lovecraft-esque gods also permeate the setting, though they may seem friendly and kind at first. I'm going for a sort of low horror vibe; I don't want characters to be constantly terrified and confused, but I do want them to have to grapple with the setting they're in and these new transformations. It's more psych horror in that regard, I guess.
